On the morning of January 14, members of Sr. Ampelia’s family, her religious community, caregivers from Madonna Manor and parishioners of St. Martha’s gathered to celebrate her life and lay her to rest.
Three of Ampelia’s sisters were there, together with some of her nieces. The celebration was simple, loving, and joyful, as the congregation listened to the promises proclaimed in God’s Word, rejoiced in the pledge of eternal life that is the Eucharist, and shared memories of Ampelia’s many years as an RJM. Sr. Michelle Authier spoke on behalf of the local community; Sr. Rosemary Mangan offered the condolences of Sr. Margaret and the Leadership Team, also sharing some personal memories; Sr. Diane Dube gave special thanks to Florencia Condori, whose loving care of Ampelia blessed these last years. The celebration continued with a luncheon at Jesus-Mary Mission Center in Plainville.
This morning Sr. Michelle Authier and sisters from Jesus-Mary Mission Center accompanied Fr. Bill Schmidt to bury Sr. Ampelia’s ashes at St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery in Bellingham, MA.
