Our four sisters from Haiti and the Leadership Team spent an enjoyable and fruitful four days together last week. From May 3 to 6, in exchanges and discussions facilitated by Ms. Marisa Guerin, our missionaries shared information and concerns about their situations and projects in Gros Morne and Jean Rabel.
Together we studied our ministries in light of the values that can promote systemic change.
This study is a ‘work in progress,’ but we hope that these values can guide future planning for ministry in Haiti.

Dear Sister Marge and all our Sisters in the Province,
In the name of our dear Mother Cecilia and of our community, we want to thank you for all the love you have shown M. Cecilia, especially on this occasion of her 115th Birthday, expressed in so many cards, good wishes, prayers, and gifts, all of which are greatly appreciated. The 25th was a great day of thanksgiving for her life, totally given to the Lord during her 92 years of religious profession.
Recently the 13th Street Community had the joy of hosting Sr. Yudith Pereira, RJM, for a long weekend. Yudith, from the Province of Spain, is currently the Assistant Executive Director of the organization Solidarity with South Sudan. She was in the USA to meet with Sr. Joan Mumaw, who directs the not-for-profit US organization, Friends in Solidarity, that helps to support this work, an inter-Congregational enterprise that sponsors five communities presently ministering in South Sudan. Altogether, more than 260 Congregations are supporting this project.
QUEST — Volunteers for Haiti is an opportunity for women and men to live in community with sisters of the Religious of Jesus and Mary in Gros Morne, Haiti (4 hours north of PAP), ministering with the people of Haiti to impact the future of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
You may recall that in the Summer 2015 issue we highlighted QUEST one-month volunteers assisting with Camp Claudine, a Summer Camp for over 300 children.
On March 8th, a group of talented, courageous women gathered at the heart of the Vatican to tell their stories of peace and hope. These women who have the skill to combine inner faith with outer action. These women are stirring things up in the name of peace and are using their voices, courage, passion, anger, and leadership to support a global conversation on non-violence.
News anchorwoman, Eun Yang (in green), gave a tour of the NBC4 studio to a group of WSG students in late February. The girls got to check out all of the action both in front of the camera, as well as behind the scenes.
Here the students are posed around the Meet the Press table.
It was a wonderful experience for the students, and some have been inspired to become journalists some day.
Dear Friends, on February 9th, the Theater Club performed their first full-length play in celebration of Black History Month titled Shine, A Story about Believing in Yourself. The girls tirelessly rehearsed and perfected their performance from September through showtime. There was dancing, singing, and dialogue, and we could not be more proud of the hard work that the girls put into bringing the story to life.
