ADIOS Y GRACIAS. . . FAREWELL TO JOAN OF ARC RESIDENCE - San Diego, CA
Eighty-four years of presence and hospitality is no small accomplishment. For the Religious of Jesus and Mary of the United States, Joan of Arc Residence in San Diego has been a beacon and home offered to thousands of women. This past week, Sr. Margaret Perron announced that the province will close this ministry, having secured a buyer for the property. A familiar but painful experience marks this termination of an era for the province, and invites us into a new future unfolding.
WAR HITS HOME - Thevenet Montessori School
When Kindergarten student Charlotte arrived at Thevenet on Monday morning, her greeting to her teacher, Mrs. Rudiak, was “Thank you for taking care of my people.” Charlotte is Ukrainian; Mrs. Rudiak comes from Poland.
A SAD REALITY - Jean Rabel, Haiti
Mezelia and her husband have at least five grown up children, most of whom have left their local area, seeking a better life in the capital Port-au-Prince. Both were hardworking parents trying to provide food and education for their family.

This week we continue learning about the Feast of St. Claudine celebrations across the province. First are Port-au-Prince photos taken by Sr. Rosario Fumanal, RJM, followed by Sr. Vivian Patenaude, RJM’s report on the celebration at the Marillac Residence in Wellesley Hills, MA.
On the right are the children and volunteers of the afterschool Pas a Pas program, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was a lovely Mass and I dared to read and speak in Creole!

HELLO FROM THE NOVITIATE HOUSE - in Madrid, Spain
The past 5 months have been a whirlwind of learning a bit about the culture, growing in my Spanish language capacity, and getting used to the new routine. Now that I feel a bit more adjusted and survived the first semester of courses I´ve been asked to write a bit about what life is like here in the community.
On January 24th, Global Sisters Report published an article on the situation in Haiti written by Chris Herlinger, which was submitted to us by Sr. Janice Farnham, RJM.
Shown here are just a few of the learning environments sponsored by the RJMs. These spaces are designed to nurture the development of young children academically and physically, while also developing their character.
December 28th was a memorable day because the Jean Rabel basketball team had invited the Mol St. Nicholas team to a friendly match! The first basketball match in many years.
