HELLO FROM THE NOVITIATE HOUSE - in Madrid, Spain
The past 5 months have been a whirlwind of learning a bit about the culture, growing in my Spanish language capacity, and getting used to the new routine. Now that I feel a bit more adjusted and survived the first semester of courses I´ve been asked to write a bit about what life is like here in the community.
On September 15, Brittany Galvin, in the presence of members of the novitiate community, the provincial council of Spain, and members of nearby communities in Madrid, requested “...to come to learn your way of life.”
VAYA CON DIOS, BRITTANY!
Members of the MD/DC region came together on August 19th to bid farewell to Brittany Galvin before her departure for Spain. They were joined by Cheryl Nichols, former RJM, whose times of service in Haiti have included a stay in the Gros Morne community, where Brittany served as a Quest volunteer.
Since starting work with Unity Health Care I’ve had the privilege of working at one of the isolation and quarantine hotels for those who either have COVID or need to quarantine due to exposure.
Gathering on Saturday, September 19th, the RJM of the MD/DC region prayed and celebrated with Brittany Galvin as she officially began her time of Postulancy.
From November 17-30, former Quest Volunteer, Aileen Reid, and current volunteers Pujan Mapchan and Geri Lanham, distributed 60 filtration systems through the program Water with Blessings.
During those two weeks the three went to different areas of greater Gros Morne often accompanied by two local female agronomy technicians, to educated the communities not only on the filters but the importance of clean water.
